Nearly three months ago (though it sometimes feels like three years), lockdown orders went into effect and people around the country began self-isolating. Our team at Esparza wanted to do something to help as we watched the early stages of the pandemic unfold around us.
There was just one problem: We aren’t healthcare workers, grocery store clerks or long-haul truck drivers, the heroes of 2020. But we are pretty good at using digital tools to help people connect. So we designed and built a website to do just that—encourage people to reach out, express themselves and spread love during the pandemic.
The website allows anyone to write and post a “love note” to anywhere in the world. Visitors to the site can write a note to a loved one, to an entire family, to a city or even the world as a whole. When someone writes a note, it’s pinned to an interactive map, literally showing how we can spread love during this uncertain time.
“We hope the website is an outlet for people to express themselves,” says Del Esparza, our president and founder. “Mental health is a huge issue right now. Writing how you’re feeling and connecting with others can help. We’ve been excited to see how far the notes have already spread organically.”
To date, 340 love notes have been posted to nearly all 50 U.S. states and more than 15 countries. The notes range from heartfelt to hopeful to humorous. Here are a few of our favorites.
You can browse the notes others have posted, as well as write and post your own love note, either with your name or anonymously. To help spread the love even further, you can also easily share a love note on your social media channels or go old school and email a note to a friend or loved one.
If you’re looking for a little something positive in your day, we recommend browsing the love notes other people have posted. They’ll make you smile, make you laugh, and make you feel a little closer to your fellow humans. Really need a boost? Post your own note.
